Language Access Tools for State Employees

Learn more about the contracts that several state agencies leverage for translation and interpretation services, and how to access them:

Language Interpretation and Translation Master Contract: Central Management Services (CMS) provides statewide master contracts for use by all agencies. The statewide master contract for language translation and interpretation is currently under contract with Multilingual Connections, LLC (MLC) until May 13th, 2026. Agencies can leverage the contract with MLC to provide any number of translation or interpretation projects.

Language Interpreter Service: The Language Interpretation service provides a means for state employees to accept and respond to calls from non-English speaking clients or constituents via a three-way call with a live operator or access Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) for sign language communication with deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals utilizing an interpreter through a computer with a webcam, tablet or smartphone.

The Illinois Document Translation Portal (IDTP): The Illinois Document Translation Portal is a web-based service provided by DoIT that allows agencies to quickly convert documents written in English to Polish, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, Chinese, or Tagalog. Agencies are billed for usage on a per page basis.
